Welcome to the Municipal District of Big Lakes Development Department.  Within these pages you will find useful informatiion that will help quide you through your subdivision and development process.  If you need assistance or have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the MD office.

TAX CONCESSION POLICY 

Council has adopted a new Tax Concession Policy. The purpose of the policy is to grant a fair and consistent means of granting tax concessions to promote economic growth within the municipal district. 

  • This tax concession does not include education or seniors’ taxes or any local improvement taxes.
  • Developers must have four (4) or more lots (within the same    subdivision plan) to be eligible
  • This policy only applies to titled vacant (undeveloped) lots, without title transfer, signed offers to purchase, sales agreements, rent-to-purchase agreements, or any other sales agreements in place 

Please note the registered landowner/developer is required to apply in writing for the tax incentive prior to June 30th.

PRIVATE SEWAGE CERTIFIED CONTRACTORS LIST 

Below is a link to the list of certified contractors that are eligible to obtain private sewage treatment system permits in the Province of Alberta. This list is maintained and updated on a regular basis as contractor certification is renewable on an annual basis. For your convenience the list is sorted alphabetically by municipality so that you are able to find a certified contractor in your area.
